DIY Alohomora Key Rack

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Hey everyone, it's been a while since I've posted something cause there's been a lot going on.
Anyway, I'm back now with a brand new DIY-project to beautify your home.

What do you need?
  • picture frame, at least 5 cm in depth
  • 5 hook-screws
  • 'Alohomora'-writing
  • picture / drawing of your choice (I used a picture of a winged key)
  • 6 nails
  • string or cord
  • pencil
  • scissors
  • glue
  • hammer
  • ruler
Step 1

First you've got to print out the Alhomora writing. I created mine with a font called Xéfora, which you can download here. Print it out to fit your frame and cut carefully around the letters.
Take the glass pane out of the frame and put it aside, we won't be needing that.
Glue your neatly cut-out 'Alohomora'-writing on the window mat.

Step 2

If you want to put a picture in, then do that now. If you want to draw something on the backdrop go ahead now :)
I decided to put a picture in the frame, but I made that decision when I was nearly done. So don't be confused why there isn't a picture in the frame in the shots that come next :D

Step 3

Now we put the frame back together. On the bottom of the frame mark the places where you want to put the hooks for your keys. Make little holes with a nail and a hammer, it makes screwing the hook in easier. If you don't have enough strenght, you can put a pencil through the hook. The leverage will make it much easier!

Step 4:

On the side of the frame mark the places where the nails will be. Then put them in with the hammer. Tie the string / cord you're using around the first nail, then put the cord in a zig-zag shape around the other nails and tie it to the last one.

And there you go, your own 'Alohomora' key rack. I used the nails and the cord to create a space where I can put my wallet and my phone.

Have fun creating your own! Please leave a comment how you like my key rack and maybe show me pictures of yours! See you soon, until then:

Ilvermorny (writing and sorting!)

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Finally it's here!! The article about Ilvermorny School of witchcraft and wizardry! JKR gives us some major writing 19 years later!

Ilvermorny was founded by the Irish witch Isolt Sayre.
Isolt had to flee Ireland in her early life to get away from her anti-muggle and cruel aunt. She never got to attend Hogwarts herself, because her aunt kept her imprisoned after murdering her parents. One day Isolt stole her aunts wand and began her journey to Massachusetts disguised as a boy traveling by ship.

There she hid for a long time, married a muggle and adopted 2 wizard children and eventually founded Ilvermorny (for full details, read the article on pottermore). Let me just say this: the wand Isolt stole was Salazar Slytherins!! She was a direct descendent of him and another pure-blood family. She buried the wand in front of Ilvermorny, where a tree grew out of it.

I think it's crazy how closely linked these two schools are. Hogwarts and Ilvermorny both have 4 houses. Whereas Hogwarts houses are named after their founders, Ilvermorny houses are named after the magical creature each founder (Isolt, her husband and their two sons) liked best. They are called Horned Serpent, Thunderbird, Wampus and Pukwudgie.

You can now get sorted into you're Ilvermorny house on pottermore! So take the quiz now and see where you belong!
I myself got Pukwudgie, which represents the witches or wizards heart and is believed to favour healers.

You get to download wallpapers of your Ilvermorny house just as the ones from Hogwarts house. Pukwudgie looks like this:

I'm excited to see what the other houses wallpapers look like!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Pottermore invited some of the actors to let them be sorted, including Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley), Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom, now sporting a moustache), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and - my favourite - Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood).

All the videos can be watched on the pottermore website and on their YouTube channel. And of course here on my blog. So here you go, have fun watching :)

Cursed Child Friday Forty

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is about to premier in London. Naturally, the tickets sold out faster than the Quidditch World Cup. But there's still the opportunity to grab some!

Every Friday the Cursed Child website will give away 40 tickets for part 1 and 2 of the play.
How do you get those tickets you ask? Pottermore.com says this:

At 1pm BST every Friday, the countdown clock on the "Book Tickets" page will change to a clickable button. Join the queue and you could be selected at random for the chance to buy some of the very best tickets for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts One and Two for the following week. You can buy a maximum of two tickets for both parts of the play each week.

The tickets are for some great locations throughout the Palace Theatre, and it’ll only be £30 or £40 to see both parts of the play. Just be aware that the tickets will be for a performance happening the following week – so don’t forget to keep your diaries close by when you book.

So good luck to you all and

Pottermore Sorting Hat is back!!!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Finally, the Sorting Hat is back on pottermore.com! Now many people have questions how to get your old account back. Pottermore released a simple chart for that:
Join Pottermore Infographic
So whether you've had an account before or not, you have to re-register first!! When you have created your new account you get a verification email. When you've verified your account you can get your old account with your old house and wand back by simply entering your user name, so be sure you remember that! If you've forgotten your user name pottermore will help you. By sending a blank email to usernames@team_pottermore.com

When you've reclaimed you're old house and wand your profile page may look like this (I'm in Ravenclaw, so everything following will be for students who've been sorted into that house. I'm sure there are very similar things to discover if you've been sorted into any other Hogwarts house).

If you then click 'more about my house' you'll get to a page where you can download various wallpapers e.g. for your desktop, iPhone, Android, Twitter, Facebook etc.

Also there's articles and people connected to your house so you can discover evereything about your house, like which famous people belonged to your house or what are the traits of a Gryffindor/Ravenclaw/Hufflepuff/Slytherin.

I'm really glad pottermore brought back the Sorting. Rumor has it that there will be a Patronus test in 2016, so keep your eyes peeled for that!!

I hope you can rejoin your old house soon or if you weren't happy before a new house. Maybe you've changed over time and now belong to a different house. Who knows better, but the Sorting Hat? Don't be disappointed with the house he chooses for you. And don't be disappointed with your wand either. Remember: The wand chooses the wizard!

Kneazle News visited Warner Bros.

I solemnly swear I am up to no good!

Finally I fulfilled one of my biggest dreams, visiting the Harry Potter Studio Tour. It was the most amazing experience. You get to walk where the actors worked for years to bring us 8 wonderful movies.

Getting to the studios is really simple. You can book going by bus from central London. Or you can take the London overground to Watford Junction. Every 15 minutes a bus takes you directly to the studios within 10 minutes. We chose the ladder.

Emma Watson
Rupert Grint

Daniel Radcliffe

In the beginning it's really full with a lot of people going in at the same time, but when your inside the crowd thins and you have much more space to move around. I was there during the 'Dark Arts Special' so there were some Death Eaters and special exhibits. The atmosphere is really hard to describe and photos can't capture the whole magic; however, let the pictures and videos speak for themselves.

Merry Christmas to all of you and...

Happy Birthday Helena Bonham Carter!

I solemnly swear that I am up to no good!

Today we're wishing the actress of Bellatrix Lestrange (née Black) a very happy birthday! I think she played her role fantastically. I've been just reading The Order of the Phoenix again the novel, in which Bellatrix is first mentioned.

Bellatrix Lestrange and her two sister, Narcissa and Nymphadora were raised by their parents to be proud of being pure-blood. When she first attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry the Sorting Hat put her into Slytherin house. She was a Member of the Slug Club in her school days. Her wand is 12¾ inches long, made of walnut with dragon heartstring. Hers is the only wand (in the movies) to be bent and crooked.

Shortly after school she married Rodolphus Lestrange. When Voldemort rose to power she and her husband joined the Death Eaters and became one of his most loyal servants. After the downfall of Voldemort she earned a life sentence in Azkaban for torturing Aurors Frank and Alice Longbottom into insanity.

"The Dark Lord will rise again, Crouch! Throw us into Azkaban; we will wait! He will rise again and will come for us, he will reward us beyond any of his other supporters! We alone were faithful! We alone tried to find him!"

Rodolphus and Bellatrix were imprisoned there for almost 15 years, but fled along with 9 other Death Eaters to rejoin their master. When they first came to face Harry Potter and his friends in the Department of Mysteries in the Ministry of Magic she used the Cruciatus Curse on the Longbottom's son, Neville. Also it was her fault Sirius Black died (still hate her so much for killing him!!!).

During the Battle of Hogwarts in 1998 she also killed her sister Nymphadora Tonks (née Black), who she considered a great blood traitor to the family. In the end she was killed by Molly Weasley and did not live to see her master defeated just minutes later.

Mischief managed!

On another note: Congratulations Slytherin house for winning the House Cup!
